Actor Wesley Snipes sentenced to 3 years in prison

Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison on Thursday for failing to file his federal income tax returns. The sentenced was the maximum under the law, which U.S. prosecutors had recommended for the star of the "Blade" movie series. BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhuanet) -- "Blade" star Wesley Snipes should serve a maximum three-years prison term and be fined 5 million U.S. dollars over tax evasion charges, U.S. prosecutors said.
In court papers filed on Monday but made public Tuesday, U.S. Attorney Robert O'Neill said Snipes deserved the harshest sentence due to years of "brazen defiance" and "insidious concealment." Full story
