13,000 kind-hearted "Santa Claus" break world record

With just two weeks to go before the Christmas holiday is celebrated in many parts of the world the spirit of giving is alive and well. In Northern Ireland, over 13,000 people dressed as "Santa Claus" have gathered to raise money for charity and break a world record.

The streets of Londonderry City played a ho-ho host to thousands of colorful Santas on Sunday. The red and white procession took more than one hour to walk around the city walls. In the end, the rally raised thousands of pounds for local charities.

All of the good cheer earned the participants a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Never before had so many "Father Christmases" converged on the same place and at the same time!

The charity drive attracted twice as many people dressed as Santa Claus as a similar event held recently in Las Vegas in the United States.
